The Book I'm Reading

How to participate: Share the first line (or two) of the book you are currently reading on your blog or in the comments. Include the title and the author so we know what you're reading. Then, if you would like, let us know what your first impressions were based on the first line, and let us know if you liked or did not like the first sentence. The link-up will be at A Few More Pages every Friday and will be open for the entire week.

The book I'm reading is "The Help" by Kathryn Stockett

The first two lines of the story:

"Mae Mobley was born on a early Sunday morning in August 1960. A church baby we like to call it."

The first two lines didn't really grab me but, after hearing so much about the book, I had to continue. I also wondered if the editor missed correcting, 'a early' or was it purposely left that way.

  1. I enjoyed the book, but I loved the movie more...maybe because it was easier to understand the spoken dialect over the written one.

    Thanks for sharing....

  2. I'm like you. I keep hearing about the book and the movie. I need to pick the book up as I prefer reading to watching.

I'm reading The Help right now. I'm half way through it and like it a lot.
